    Depends on what software but no it wont be enough for major editing at 4K. Really need 32GB of ram at the least and a media raid 0. Beyond that the 6 Core and D500’s would be the least I recommend for any decent preview at 1/2 res depending on the application. If $3000 is the budget your better off with a PC or Imac.

    Have to agree. can’t do it on a mac. PC you should be able to though. I’m building out a PC for on set CC and rough editing up to 4k res. The basic unit is coming in at a bit over 2000 before the ‘special’ items like a color grading monitor, LTO 6 drive, and an artist color controller. (none of which you need for an editor). that’s with 32k, 12tb of storage, 4th gen intel, etc. (even have Thunderbolt if ASUS will get their expansion card approved by Intel and to market.)
