Hey fellow NLE’s…
Thought I’d open a thread which others can then add questions to as they come to mind.
1. If I shoot clip in 4k and then edit and animate a zoom to 50% I should theoretically end up at approx 1080 and with a subject in my case that is fast moving away from me it will look far superior, especially using a fixed lens in a GoPro and no opportunity to optically zoom. However, if I then wanted to render the edited clip into a 1080 frame (why?… because most people don’t have a 4k monitor) will I still get the same 1080 quality at the end of the zoom..? or will the re-size happen relatively across the whole clip..? I want to have the flexibility of being able to shoot in UHD and get the extra editing benefits that this can yield outside of watching the project ONLY on a 4k monitor, which I have no doubt will be the case for a while yet while the world up-scales to fibre broadband and trades in their 1920 x 1080 TV for an Ultra HD model.

If you use Pan/Crop to execute the zoom you will get all of the resolution that your source clip can provide just like you want.
