I just bought a Sony FDR-AX1 and started working on my first Vegas 12 Pro project. I imported 35 3840×2160 60fps files into my project, started setting my in and outs in the first few files, saved and closed Vegas. When I reopened my project, a warning pops up saying:

The format of the media file conflicts with the way it was previously used in the current project. This could be due to the number and type of streams changing.
    H:/foldername/filename.MP4
What do you want to do?
    – Specify a replacement media file
    – Ignore error and leave media file offline
    – Ignore this and all subsequent errors

It’s searching for 5 files and the source folder is showing these files now weigh 0KB! My project folder and my files are on an external hard drive. The missing files are no where to be found including in my computer’s other hard drives.

Anyone seen mp4 files go empty or missing or anything like that?

Never seen or heard anything like that. Im wondering if you
accidentally deleted them without knowing… Just to be sure
first, with the external drive connected, check your recycle bin.

Hi thanks for your reply! The files are not in the recycle bin. I spoke to Vegas support on the phone and I was told Vegas doesn’t touch or affect the original media files and I was told to simply look in all my drives which I did intensively. But the problem is not that the file is gone, it’s still showing in the folder at a weight of 0kb. When I try to open it with vlc or gom it’s blank.

That’s a tuff one to figure out.
Strangely, Im wondering if a virus could have
    something to do with this.

XAVC is still young and undevelpoed , maybe you can try to transcode them first, then reload to Pro12
