Activity Forums Adobe After Effects 4D LITE in AE

I asked this question indirectly here and on the 4D forum, but so far no replies –

“Can 4D just be used to create extruded text/shapes, then animated in After Effects?
Or must moves also be done within the C4D program?”

Also it seems rather difficult to launch C4D Lite outside of AE, can this be done?

Complete 4D newbie here, so please forgive what I hope turn out to be
    simply navigated questions!

No to both questions. Animation happens inside C4D and you can’t launch C4D Lite outside of AE.
(Now, the new version of AE that’s coming soon will let you send text and shape animations from AE into C4D for extrusion.

I HIGHLY recommend this series to get you up to speed on C4D Lite and the interaction with After Effects: https://www.cineversity.com/vidplaylist/cinema_4d_lite_reference It’s done by one of the best C4D trainers I know.
