My friend wants to help me edit. He wants me to match the audio sampling rate on my H4n to my 5DM2 in pre, so he does not have to conform it later.

What is the audio sampling rate on a 5DM2? Is it 48KHz/16 bit? Or is it 48KHz/24 bit?

And what is the difference in bitrate between 16 and 24 bits, anyhow?

    Thanks.

Canon 5D Mark II records stereo audio when an appropriate external mic is attached. The audio is 16-bit for left and right tracks. The internal mic is monaural and is likely 16 bit also. High-end auto and digital masters use 24 bit audio I understand, but most audio is 16 bit. 24 bit will generate 50% higher bandwidth so the files are larger but 16 bit should be fine.
