    Walter,

I have dealt with Nintendo, and what they do is:

    Capture at 720p uncompressed
Use compressor to crop to 480p
    Edit 480p in FCP
    Export QT, uncompressed 480p

The Wii outputs 480p, and there are no available ways to capture directly into 480p. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Why use Compressor to crop the raw material to 480p? Why not edit in 720p and do the crop down at the end. FCP works easily with 720p so I would simply capture / edit in 720p and then take that final timeline and output to 480p through Compressor.

I have suggested that to them, and they wonder why they didn’t think of that. If they could just capture direct to 480p, that would be the best way. Now we are considering ProRes instead, since that is an option now. Without testing, I think it would be safe to consider the quality would be similar.

Neither AJA or BM has expressed interest in attempting to support 480p in any way.
