November 26, 2007 at 11:54 pmIf you have an AJA Kona 2, you have no ability to capture analog component, so you need a CONVERTER that will convert analog component into SDI.
AJA HD10AVA will do this for you.
AJA I/O will do this for you.
Isn’t there something cheaper – no.
Why don’t they just make a box that does everything – they do – it’s called the AJA I/O HD.
If you are working with analog video, and no HD, you are better off with the Kona LHe or AJA I/O.

November 27, 2007 at 12:54 amHmm, okay I have an HD10A that I use for capturing HD, but it doesn’t get a signal when I try and input 480p into it and set FCP to capture from AJA 525. Do I have to also purchase a D10A just for 480p SD component? I would like to capture 480p60.

this is what you are going to do right now. NO SLEEP FOR YOU until you look at this –https://www.aja.com/html/products_converters_mc.html
This is the AJA Mini converter line. See that ? The AJA HD10A will not accept a standard def analog component signal, but the HD10AVA WILL ACCEPT a standard def analog component signal and turn it into SD-SDI. This SD-SDI signal can now be put into your Kona 2 SDI Input, where you can capture your analog component information.
