    Hello!

So, I am doing a commercial that requires slow motion footage, so I set my HVX200 to 480i/24p to capture it, because that would give me pretty decent slow mo.

However, when I go to import the clips from my P2 backup, it always errors, every single clip. Even though I can watch the footage in the import viewer!

So my question is: Is there a special setting FCP needs to be on to import that footage, and if not, what else could the problem be? Thanks so much.

Well for one thing that is not slow motion footage, for that you set the camera to 720p 24p and then set the frame rate to something above 24 (60 giving you the slowest effect)

you don’t import P2 clips, you use log and transfer.

    Thanks for the reply.

I was using log and transfer, how else would I get the P2 footage into a viewable medium?

Slow motion effect aside, the error its giving me on the clips is “Error: No data.” Yet, I can see the clips in the viewer. Is there something I’m doing wrong? I was able to capture footage that was shot on the same shoot, but with a different setting. So I know its not my back up files, its got to be something with FCP and the 480i/24p footage.

How should I know that you are using L&T when you said you were importing the clips. Terms matter. There are other software for looking at the clips in there P2 form.

Once again what are your settings?

Did you shoot 24p or 24pA, if 24p in the L&T pref, make sure the remove advanced pull down and duplicate frames is UNCHECKED, it should be checked for 24pA,

So 24p would come in as 29.97 footage, 24pA would come in as 23.98 footage.

When you copied all your files from the P2 card did you copy the entire card including Last Clip.txt and keep everything in the same folder structure.

Thank you for your help with this. The problem was the advanced pulldown and duplicate frames box.

And the slow-mo thing isn’t a huge deal, Next time I can only hope to do it better.

    Again, thanks a lot.

Thank you, unfortunately for me, I can’t re-shoot so I’ve got to work with what I have.

I appreciate the advice though, and next time I’ll make sure I’ve got the appropriate settings on my camera.
