This isn’t a question, just thought I’d leave a note, just in case anyone else has gone thru this…

Opening old 4.5 or earlier projects in 5-5.0.2 has corrupted my renders every single time. I’ve trashed prefs, reinstalled, trashed all render files (in FCP) and re-rendered, etc, but nothing ever worked. Pre-render everything would look fine, but as soon as the render hit, I’d get green blocks all over any graphics (Photoshop/FCP native), text(Photoshop/FCP native), or transitions that I had.

How did I fix it? Create a new project > import my media (including graphics/audio) > copy/paste old sequence into new project > close old project > match frame each clip in old sequence and insert new clip into new sequence. (This includes graphics/text). Although a pain, it’s not as time consuming as you might think. Once all that’s done, and I’ve added back my transitions, I get perfect renders.

I don’t know if anyone else has had this happen to them, but it was driving me crazy!

    Cheers,

    Winston
