44.1khz or 48khz?
I’m recording video on the Canon 7D and audio on the Zoom H4N and then putting it all together in Final Cut. The final videos will be used online and on DVD. Ideally, should I be recording my audio in 44.1khz or 48? Can I mix the two? If I do, will it significantly change the quality? Thanks.

FCP audio operates at 48khz native. Best to start there at all times.

hey, i have been using both fcp for a long time, and also the zoom h4n a fairly recent addition. the previous post was absolutely right. fcp defaults to 48K so better to use the 48K option for the zoom h4n recordings. just a word about the h4n….. make sure to use the windscreen if outdoors, always….. and set yourself up w some decent isolating earphones to always monitor what is happening on the h4n. those mic’s (the built-in’s) are really good but are very sensitive to air pressure so if interviewing a subject keep the mic about a foot away from the speaker or even with the windscreen you may have to intuit some placement distance that works for the subjects delivery. on the other hand if you are using the recorder to pick-up ambient sound, room sound, etc….. it’s great with the built in mics.
