I have a clients existing DVD which he wants recompiled into a new DVD (with extra content added). I have ripped the original DVD with DVD decrypter and then imported the demuxed files into Encore….here’s where the problem starts..

Although the .M2V files are 4 : 3 Encore initially displays them in the monitor window as 4 : 3 but then displays them as 16 : 9 as soon as I preview or output the file. Because they are .M2V files I cannot ‘Interpret Footage’ as that option is greyed out.

How can I force Encore to display and output them correctly?

    Any help appreciated.

You could try to change the 16:9/4:3 flag of the MPEG-2 file with the help of ReStream. This won’t re-encode the MPEG, but just change its aspect ratio flag.

I would suggest to import the “restreamed” video in a new project to avoid a possible problem with Encore using old information about its properties.

Thanks so much. That totally nailed it. It’s a good little app. too.
