I was wondering how much of a difference it would make to use a 4:2:2 signal out of a Sony camera and capture live to Apple ProRes 422 using the AJA IO vs. what comes off the HDV tape (4:2:0).

Would it make for noticeably cleaner keys, or would the difference be subtle?

    Thanks!

It will be much much better. Not only is it 4:2:2, it is alos 10 bit precision. You will have a mch easier time keying from ProRes captured files straight off the camera than HDV.
