    Hi all
I have been asked to create a dvd for a banner screen with dimensions of 320×80 pixels. I am working in Final Cut and trying to export through compressor. However, as soon as I choose mpeg2 pal as my file format the dimensions for the frame size in the inspector black out and I cannot change the aspect ratio. Is there a way to do this at all?
    Thanks – and heres hoping!

The DVD video specification (NTSC) only allows for ONE frame dimension – 720×480. That has EITHER a pixel aspect ratio of .9 (4×3) or 1.2 (16×9).

To accomplish what u need go do…you need to create a seq in fcp that is one of these settings, with black filling in the areas u don’t want an image.

This is to make a DVD video, this could also be done using a media player of some kind…

Thanks Jason. I’m going to try building the clip in a 320×80 sequence then dropping that into a normal 720×576 (I’m in pal world). That should give me the required black that you mention – I hope! Cheers for reply.

    That’s exactly what to do.
