400W HMI
Hello.
We need a HMI, about 400 watts, for lighting backgrounds on live stand-ups. I’ve worked with the Arri Arrilux 400 before and it does what is required. However it costs about 10,000 dollars, whereas e.g. the Dedolight 400 costs about 5,000 dollars.
Are they the same and are there other HMI’s that I should consider.

I highly recommend the K5600 “joker” line of HMI’s; they have two 400w models, the Joker Bug which is both a PAR type unit and a bare bulb (especially suitable for Chimeras) and the Black Jack which is a Fresnel type. They’ll cost about the $5K you mentioned for the Dedo. Do yourself a favor and check them out before you spend that kind of money!
