    Hi,

Got a client using FCP for a feature film project. There are about 4000 clips in the project and he’s using the 24@25 codec for offlining.

Now he’s having out-of-memory problems and frequent crashes during rendering.

    Specs :

    MacPro 2.66ghz with 4Gb ram.
    OS 10.4.10
    Internal 1.5TB Raid-0
    Decklink HD Extreme

Anyone can help ? I am not entirely familiar with the 24@25 workflow.

    > Now he’s having out-of-memory problems and frequent crashes during rendering.< Out of memory can be associated with huge timelines that require tons of RAM to hold the "preparing video for display" files. Try trashing all of the cache files. Rendering issues are usually caused by insufficient free drive space. He'll need about 15 gigs free on a 1.5T system, if my math is correct. Ask him to stop whatever he's doing and figure out his worst case scenario recovery plan. If he turns on his machine tomorrow and the project comes up as corrupt, damaged or simply gone, what is he going to do? Is there a backup of his project files? Does he have his tapes? Solve those issues before proceeding. Break the project down into at least two reels, it's a standard operating procedure with large projects. The division can be totally arbitrary. The point is to get back to work, not to have everything at his immediate disposal. bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
