I won’t buy it (is it even recommended to get an HD that big? Will it have more latency to read/write? Are you risking losing footage at too much a cost?), but I’m glad that HD prices seem to FINALLY be going down.

This drive is only 5900rpm. I wouldn’t put it in my system, except for maybe a backup drive.

The platter speed is not as important as the Sustained Data Transfer Rate. The 2Tb Barracuda is 210 MB/s, the 3Tb drive is 210 MB/s and the 4Tb drive is 180 MB/s.
It would make for a nice backup disc.
It won’t be long and we will be seeing 6Tb helium disk drives.
