    All,

I know its January, but these were planned as a present to the FCP & Motion community for Christmas!

I’ve developed four free fxplug filters/generators for everybody to download. They are in public beta at the moment, but they all work well and I haven’t had a single crash.

If you would like to download them, all the information is HERE

    Briefly the four filters/generator are:-

    MultiSpace
Puts two inputs into 3d space with global & independent XYZ & rotation. Planes can intersect too. You cannot do this in FCP, Motion OR Shake at the moment 🙂

    iSight Live!
Yes, get a live input on your timeline in Motion & FCP. Very handy for picking a colour off a client’s brochure. I’ve also waved a white envelope in front of the camera and used that as a key signal.

    Rack Focus
Racks the blur from one input to the other with one parameter. Both blur values for each input can be independently set. Great for highlighting text over a picture

    Opposites
Two input basic parameter linking – move one left, the other goes right. Rotate one clockwise, the other one goes anticlock. Very handy as you can assign a behavoir such as random to both elements. Great for getting funky text moves.

Hope you all enjoy using these, as always any feedback is more than welcome and best regards for the festive season 🙂

Thanks Peter, these look pretty cool. Now how about something that would go the other way vis a vis iChat. I’d like to be able to simply send my timeline out over iChat for collaboratory reasons. I can do it now using two computers and a camcorder, but it’s a pain. It would be lovely to be able to send the a/v out live from one machine and I bet lots of people would buy such a utility.

    Regards,
    David

Rack Focus…nice. Now I can stop faking it with Gaussian Blur.

    Thanks Peter.

Thanks Andy. I tried showmacster but didn’t get it to work, I think because I didn’t have a camera connected to start a video chat session. If I recall, that software is also limited to showing files. That’s fine as far as it goes, but it would be cool to have real time collaboration where the folks off site could see changes to the timeline as they’re created (well, as they’re played). Perhaps I just didn’t use it properly.

    Regards,
    David

The next version of iChat in 10.5 is supposed to be able to share your screen with a viewer. As well as giving control to the viewer. You can potentially edit on someone else’s machine across the world – as long as they give you the control.

I’m dying to use this feature so I can troubleshoot my parent’s Mac and actually see their screen.

I’ve always thought FCP with bonjour would be pretty cool.

I have clients round the world who have MacBookPros who could watch me edit via bonjour with local DV footage and a copied project. Maybe ichat too at the same time. I wish.
