I am was hired by a director to edit his documentary. I am final cut 6 level one certified and about to be motion 3 level one cert, I am trying to capture his tapes that he recorded four tracks of audio on (HDV 1080i) through either his Blackmagic Design multibridge pro, Canon XL-H1, or the Sony HVR-1500 deck. I can not for the life of me get it to capture all four channels of audio, I did not check any presets in the deck but I could not get any of the devices to capture more than 2 channels. When that did not work I told the deck to output 1/2 and captured a clip, then told the deck to output 3/4 and captured the exact same media. When i laid them down in the time line and looked at the waveforms they where exactly the same. Please if you have any advice i think i am not getting the right preset in FCP. If you have any words of advice it would be greatly appreciated.

[Grant Strac] “I did not check any presets in the deck”

you may need to consult the manual for that then.
