After thinking that I was out of the woods trying to output 4 independent channels of audio to my DigiBeta deck (via SDI output), I’m encountering a problem that hopefully somebody can help me figure out. My sequence settings are enabled for 4 outputs (Dual mono). In the audio mixer under the tool menu in FCP I have straight patched Ch1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4. I am seeing all four channels in the audio mixer and all 4 channels are coming through fine to my deck in E-E mode (if I simply play my sequence manually). The problem arises when I try to “edit to tape”. There only 2 channels are enabled for output. I’ve gone through my A/V settings and 8 channels should be active. What am I missing? I’ve done a workaround for my current project but I need to get this thing figured out. Thanks anybody!

    Kim,
in the edit to tape window, there is a drop down menu, above the outpoint setting on the bottom right, that enables theaudio tracks. You can select there which ones you want. I suggest all on setting. That should be it really.

Thanks Nick, but the problem is that all channels besides ch 1 and 2 are greyed out in the dialogue box you mention. I must have some setting set wrong somewhere but I can’t figure out where. Any other ideas?

Check your A/V Settings in the Device Control tab, click Edit. Check to see if the deck’s audio mapping is set to 4 tracks. If that doesn’t fix it, then, try dragging your master sequence to the Viewer, not the Canvas, and ETT from the Viewer.

Thanks Steve! That was the problem. My mind was stuck on all the concievable “audio” output settings and I didn’t realize that the AJA I/O easy set-up was set to 2 channels. And even more importantly that it was changeble within that particular menu. I don’t know if that is a default setting or whether it was the Apple technician that set up my system did that…. Grrrr!! At any rate thanks so much. I was sure it was something simple but I couldn’t find that magic window! Thanks again and Ciao!
