Where can one find these AJA beta drivers for CS6?

Quite sad the LHe is now EOL. We have 8 of those suckers. We knew they wouldn’t work with Avid, but not even with CS6? I think resale value just dropped to $0. Any FCP 7 legacy hold outs want a great deal on some KONA cards? 😉

We have a borrowed Thunderbolt ioXT for iMac & Avid MC 6 testing – I have to send it back soon, and was hoping to give it a CS6 run through before returning it.

The good news is that the iMac/tbolt AJA seems like an entirely valid option for an editing workstation. I as quite impressed, actually. If we stay on the Mac, most of our edit stations could live with that setup just fine…

I found out yesterday that my LHe is not going to be supported by CS6. Since I still require analog IO occassionally I’m considering buying a Matrox MXO2 LE, so I can have an external box and be flexible between my Mac Pro and MBP. It seems like great bang for the buck. My other options seem to be the BMD DeckLink Extreme 3D or any of the AJA KONA cards (LHe Plus for example).

The MXO2 LE is basically the same cost as a DL Extreme 3D or an LHe+. Are there any compelling reasons to choose an internal-only option over the MXO2 LE? What about jumping to the $1500 category with an LHi? I know I’m not the only person wondering what to replace old LHe’s with… Thanks in advance.

Take a look at this page and watch the video found at lower right, second from bottom, titled “Interoperability with Third Party”.

Dave Helmly demonstrates CS6 Mercury Transmit with the BlueFish card and there is definitely a couple frames of lag between PC monitor and external display.

That lag between broadcast monitor and desktop monitor is not unusual at all. We have some older plasmas that are quite slow to process the signal, and often lag a few frames behind. The question is, can you offset it to match? And can you control the audio sync?

Smoke 2012 has the best implementation of that I’ve ever seen. 1) There’s a preference for whether audio syncs to the desktop, or the broadcast monitor, and 2) you can control the delay to within a hundredth of a frame to create perfect sync with any monitor.

Hi,

Just installed CS6 & having issues with Blackmagic HD Extreme. Neither computer nor external monitor match the BM audio. It seems to drift a little as well. As OP mentioned this wasn’t an issue with 5.5.2.

Hopefully there’s a solution to this, I was under the impression external monitoring was supposed to be one of the new and exciting improvements in CS6.

I’m working with a 2010 MacPro 8 Core with an NVIDIA Quadro 4000 and BM software v 9.5.1

So we meet again on another forum 😉

I’m also (still) having issues here with external monitoring. Blackmagic Decklink SDI, Mac Pro 2010, 8-core, 24GB RAM, Quadro 4000.

External monitor is 5 frames behind program monitor window.
Audio is sync though with the external monitor, when I set Preferences->Playback AudioDevice: to “Blackmagic Playback”

I filed a bug report, and a feature request for a preference to trim/offset the external monitor timing.
