    Hey folks,

I’m a television editor and currently I am editing on Avid in a 2-monitor set-up. One monitor has my bins and workspace and the other is used for full screen.

I’m trying to figure out how to get a 3rd (flat screen TV) involved.

Do I need a new card to give me a 3rd output?

Of course I’m looking for something simple and cheap. ????

    Here are my specs:
MacPro (early 2009) Processor 2×2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Memory 6 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512 MB Software OS X 10.9.5 (13F1507) MC 7.0.4.3

    Any advise would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

AJA or Decklink cards are the usual way to get a full frame picture out of any computer to a TV, so your graphics card can drive a standard two monitor editing setup. But being Avid I don’t know if like FCP or Premiere or Resolve if you can use this sort of card. Maybe an Avid editor on an old FCP forum can let you know what hardware you need.

Hi Trevor, I suggest the AJA I/O Express, the older version and not the current Thunderbolt model. It consists of a PCIE card and breakout box. This is Avid qualified and will drive your monitor via HDMI and provide analogue audio out. I have seen them for sale on ebay for a very reasonable price.

the other products to look into are:

    Blackmagic Intensity Pro ($199),
    Blackmagic Decklink Mini Monitor ($145)

the intensity would give you audio outputs as well

    Thanks Nick!

I actually have an Intensity Pro Card (circa 2009) but I just can’t seem to get any signal.

Right now I’m looking into getting new drivers which I’m not really sure how to go about. ????

Anyway, thanks so much. It’s just a matter of figuring out the Intensity card.

    Have a great weekend!

    Go here:

    https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/support/family/capture-and-playback

Download DESKTOP VIDEO…10.5.1 or 10.5.4 are the most stable under OS 10.10…
