I would love to get feedback from Max users on C4D transitions and disappointments. I’ve committed myself to the Macintosh platform and want the best work flow with Final Cut Studio. I like 3DS Max but I am interested in a platform agnostic tool that works well on Apple. I don’t think Maya will serve me well in with Engineering visualizations. I keep hearing good things about C4D but need to know if it is comparable to Max. i’ve heard people say it is more for hobbyists and that concerns me.

Cinema is quite comparable to Max (or Maya for that matter), and IMHO it’s a much more modern/logical program. Max is very good but in large part it’s been built up from a collection of third party plugins, which makes it seem not quite all of one piece.

Cinema did start out as a mainly hobbyist app. years ago but it’s advanced lightyears since then. It’s been used in many feature films (e.g., Spiderman 1 & 3, Harry Potter, Monster House, several Star Wars films, etc.), hundreds of broadcast programs, etc. It’s probably the No. 1 3D app. for motion graphics in the U.S.

I wouldn’t be concerned about outgrowing it any time soon.

Thank you for your input. I think it is time for a change or at least add C4D to the war chest. Max is very kludgey and is frustrating managing all the plugins. I hope others give me there opinions.

    Thanks
