3d tracking and Particular…why wont this work?
Hello all, back once again,
Ive been banging my head against the wall on this for the past couple days. I finally managed to get a ~100 frames of 3d tracked footage (halfway circling some “tracking” stones and a block of wood in my drive way). My plan was to bring this tracked footage into AE, apply the tracking data to Particular, then sit back and admire the effects of a fountain of particles in my driveway…
Welp, I wouldnt be here if it werent working, hahaha.Im having a difficult time understanding how to glue Particular to the tracked footage. Obviously if you parent Particular’s layer to the data, the whole layer moves. If I Alt-Click the X,Y emitter position and pickwhip it to the tracked data it gets thrown way off screen and moves without being stuck to the ground.
Is this a problem with me not understanding how to use Particular and 3d tracking? If so, any suggestions?
Or, is my tracking data horribly wrong? (when I used test objects within the tracking software, they seemed to adhere and rotate very well)

I am not familiar with 3D tracking so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I think I might know what’s going on.
The emitter position in particular is only x and y, there is another option for z position…
If you can develop an expression to link the x and y position data with the corresponding points on the tracking data, then use another expression for the z position to the z tracking data.
