3D Topical map flyover (a la Google Earth) for Broadcast?
Hi – I’m wondering if anyone else has any experience with this. We’re revamping a current show for this season and we want to include some very detailed topical 3D maps as motion graphic elements into the show to show the location of the shoot. I’ve seen CNN use what looks to be Google Map flyovers on their situation room type shows, and I was wondering if anyone knows what a good solution to this would be?
We’ve used 2D maps that were Illustrator files in the past… but the maps were not detailed enough. This is a fishing/hunting show so we need to be able to see topographical features like mountains, rivers, streams, flats, etc. If I could somehow just broadcast something that looks like Google Earth, with the type of flyovers Google Earth can do – that would be great. Anyone have any ideas?
I know Google does allow licensing but I haven’t looked too far into that process. We want to spend as little as we have to – these elements weren’t considered into the budget so everything at this point is extra… and hopefully not too costly.
Thanks a lot!
