3D Text Effects Presets?
Posted by Ckeyes on May 12, 2005 at 12:05 amHi,
Is there any way to use the text effects presets in 3D?
Been experimenting with them and it would seem they are 2D only. Thanks,
Carl

May 12, 2005 at 12:32 amThere are no font-controls for Z-depth, XYZ rotation etc.
In AE6.5 You can achieve some pseudo-3d effects by using scale with the new Anchor-point grouping selection. If you set it ‘all’ , scaling will appear like head-on Z-axis movement, but that’s about it for now.

May 12, 2005 at 12:38 amI would think if you turn your text layer into a 3d layer it will still work in 3d mode.
Or if that doesn’t work you can precomp the layer after you are happy with the text effect
then make it a 3d layer. -

May 12, 2005 at 12:44 amYeah, off course the animated text would work as a flat 3d-layer,
but there’s no way to give fi. different words different Z-positions and then pan round them and such. That can probably be achieved with some clever Particle-systems, or with every letter or word on a different layer 8-/

May 12, 2005 at 1:04 amDefinitely, if Carl wants z depth control, my suggestion would not work. Would card wipe
work with that? of course, you would have to apply card wipe first then your text effect.
You know, I’m always up for trying new things and I’d like to experiment this myself. -

I’ve been experimenting with card dance etc. but in the end I’ll
probably just have to animate each letter individualy…ugh.Really too bad as some of the presets would be so much cooler
in 3D.Carl
