I have searched the forum and found old posts on this subject but nothing new . . I am desperate to work this out! With 3d stroke you cannot adjust the brush edge and I require an animated stroke with a flat edge, like a block. Does anyone know of a reasonable workaround in CS5 ?
I have tried this method from an earlier post, but cant get it to work

. . you could try the write-on effect. Make a solid square that is the size you want the stroke tip to be. Now move it around in the way you want you stroke to be. Now create a new comp-sized solid and apply the write-on effect. Using the expression pick whip, link the source position of the write on effect with the position of your solid square. By adjusting the thickness of the line, you should be able to get the look you want.

    Thanks Dave
I will scrub that method, Are there any other ways to animate a square edged stroke, other than using trapcodes 3d stroke, and other than doing it manually?

You can generate a SQUARE brush stroke using trapcode particular. Just emit particles with no velocity.. and a long life span.

The higher they fly… the much.
