  • 3D slide scanning, then Vegas rendering for display on 3D TV

Posted by Russell Robertson on January 4, 2012 at 4:02 pm

Since his early years, my father has been big into stereo photography – we now have a family history in cases of stereo slides. Recently all the kids purchased our dad a Samsung 3D TV. I’d like to process some of these slides, via Vegas so they can be viewed in 3D on the new TV.

Is anyone aware of the process to scan 3D slides, then how best to import into the 3D capabilities of Vegas? Then, what would be the proper rendering and burning process?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions, links, expertise, etc.

    Happy New Year

    RR,

Did you ever have any luck with the Subject? I just came back from Ohio with over 2,000 3D Kodachrome, twin transparency slides my Dad took ~1953-1990. Many are incredibly good photos taken using his Revere 3D camera.

But, Kodachrome slides cannot last forever. In fact, his only two 18-slides ea. boxes of Ecktachrome are now very badly deteriorated. I would like to buy a good scanner appropriate for the task at hand, scan all slides in and then view them in 3D on a 3D TV.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Russ

    David,

Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to properly follow-up on the issue. However, it is still something I’m very interested in – since a good amount of time has passed since I made the original post, perhaps there is a new device out on the market, but I’m not sure.

I’ll have a look and let you know if I come up with anything – good luck
