    Hi

I apparently hate myself and have decided to do some photogrammetry/ 3D scans (using a DSLR and meshroom first, then soon, the POP 2 scanner)….

I’m ok with most of the ins and out, but once i have a scanned model, then i retop it, I need to transfer the textures to the new mesh. That’s where I get stuck.

I have in the past just used a reflective ‘shell’ that encompass’s’s’s the model and baked the reflection to a map then wacked that on, but that approach won’t work for complex models.

So, does anyone have any knowledge they can pass on?

    All help appreciated.

    Tar

I don’t know about meshroom. I use metashape. What I do possibly can be done in meshroom too: import the retopologized and altered mesh. generate the textures on that. For this to work the mesh can’t be scaled, relocated or rotated. so exactly same place and rotation. For this a different forum might be useful.

In cinema 4D: look into texture baking.

thank you, yer I was just looking into that approach of importing a retop mesh back into the meshroom pipeline, so far it keeps failing but I think that’s the right way to do it.

I’ll keep experimenting, quite new to it so I’m sure ill get my head around it.

    Thanks again
