    Hi All,

Ok, quick question. Let’s say I want to create a 10 second scene of an airplane flying in the clouds in After Effects and I want to make it as realistic as I can. I could use Trapcode Particular for the clouds but what would I use for the plane? How would YOU go about doing this? Would I simply import a 3D Model? What if I wanted the camera to circle around the plane in flight? Do 3d models work well in AE? I know Andrew has “The Bullet” but would this work with any 3D model?

Any info, tips and links would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time.

Thank you for your response. I’m looking at the plug-in now.

but that still requires building or obtaining the 3D model of the plane. You are therefore limited to the types of aircraft already modeled (and the expense of obtaining or modifying it to suit your needs) or building one from scratch.

And I maintain it’s not going to be realistic at all, it will will always have the CGI look to it.

I’d shoot an articulated and practical model airplane against green screen. Move the model instead of the camera.

Photoshop Extended can import your 3D mod, light it, paint it and whatever. Then export a pre-multiplied mov after you have keyframed object and or camera positions.

There are plenty of free 3D models out there granting full rights, however of a lower quality.
