    Hello creatives,

How can I make my 3D dolphin object (.C4D) rotate in my AE sequence ?

Whenever I try rotating it, it says : “MAXON CINEMA 4D: Layer size must match Composition and use default transform values”.

    Thanks a lot,

You should do the rotation in c4d and save and then it should update in your AE project. When you try to rotate it in AE I think it’s just trying to rotate the layer itself not the 3d obj in the scene.

The problem with that is if I use cinema4D, I can’t add or match the Keyframes I have in After Effects.
I followed the below video and it worked fine for her.

Any ideas? or am I stuck with trying to figure out a program I haven’t used before?

    Thanks in advance

    Hey Tommy

It depends a lot on what type of 3d things you’re trying to rotate. That link seems to show 3 separate techniques about making 3d text. If that’s what you’re trying to do one of those techniques should work. If you’re trying to rotate a more complicated object- I don’t think AE has the capabilities to do that without buying plugins. If you describe what you’re trying to do maybe I can help you better.

you can add a camera, create an orbit null and rotate the null. this will rotate the camera around the 3d object. you are not supposed to change any of the transform parameters of the c4d layer.

for matching the keyframes questions make sure the frame rate are the same in c4d and Ae
