Hi, I made a few 3D layers over video so that a title comes down from above and sits on a table (and a few letters extend off of the table).

I have the table layer perfect, where the title’s shadow is cast on the top of the table the way I want it.

    Great!

But because the title extends off of the table, I want the shadow to be cast onto the floor as well… that’s where I get a problem. I can see the floor shadows through the table top layer.

There must be a setting that I’m not doing right.

How do I get AE to recognize that the table is above the floor and therefore should cover up the shadows on the floor?

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks!

    Few things to clarify:
Text, floor and table top are 3d layers- right?
The shadows are real 3d shadows cast by a light- correct?

    Yes that’s exactly right Ted.

I used masks to try and solve the problem… it’s acceptable, but I’m still wondering if there’s an easier way?

    Thanks,

    Marc
