3D Layers in AE
Posted by Avrohom Kohn on March 30, 2006 at 3:21 pmWhen rotating a layer in After Effects’ 3D enviroment, the back side shows the front in reverse. Is there a way to have it show a solid color?
Thanx,

March 30, 2006 at 3:33 pmThere is a plugin called “detph cue” from buena to do that.
Another way is to use 2 layers with a very small z depth between themsebastien

March 30, 2006 at 4:51 pmProbably the easiest way:
Dup the layer (Ctrl D)
Add 0.1 to the Z position
Effect > Render > Fill (still dup layer) – choose a color you like (red default)
Parent the Dup layer to the Original Layer
Now any camera moves or Original layer rotations will have a solid color as the back.

March 30, 2006 at 4:53 pmYou could just create a solid and simlarly off set it in Z (copy/paste position, then add offset)and parent it to the Original.
