    Hi guys,

I’m working on a project with a bunch of 3D layers, and the camera is tracking from left to right. What I’m seeing is occasionally a flickering of a couple of layers that overlap in the 2D camera view. i.e. the “back” layer occasionally appears in front of the “front”.

the layers are separated in z space (not by like 0.1, you can see the seperation on the top view) and all rotations are 0. The camera and point of interest move along the x plane.

    Using Mac AE 8.0.0.829

    Cheers

Well I don’t know what I’ve done but this problem has now gone away. I solo’d the affected layers and it didn’t show the problem. Un-solo’d and the problem had gone. nothing else had changed.

btw unless I didn’t make it clear – none of the layers were intersecting – they are all oriented along the x plane

I don’t know if it helps since you’ve seemingly fixed it, but when I encountered this problem, it seemed to be caused by mixed motion blur settings (ie one layer had motion blur, the other didn’t). Setting everything to have motion blur (or removing all motion blur) fixed it for me.

thanks for that, yeah it seems to be fixed at the moment. I’ll keep that in mind though if I get that issue again.

I ran into similar flickering problems on my last project. Not just order flickering, but also random holes showing up in my mattes, half layers disappearing, etc. I think it was a memory issue. Usually things like soloing/unsoloing the layers (as you tried), Purging everything, closing/reopening the program, or rebooting the system would “solve” this. Ultimately, I just need to get more RAM.

Don’t know what your system specs are, but you may need the same.
