    Hi,

I have created a ‘flying logo’ on a solid black background in After Effects 6.5 / Zaxwerks 3D Invigorator and would like to add a Glint effect from Boris Continuum Complete.

The effect works OK but I cannot seem to output it with the black solid background alpha channel intact so I can overlay the finished title onto video in Premiere.

Is there a way of doing this whilst still retaining the alpha channel for the whole composition?

    Many thanks.

    Hi Willy,

    What are your render settings?

Specifically are you using a codec that includes an alpha channel?

    Animation+ does.

I had the same problem. It is due to Boris. I tried all the Pixel Chooser presets and every other way to get Boris to generate the full alpha of both 3DI and Glint. It wont.

Might I suggest you consider The Werks, Vol. 1 from Zaxwerks?

There are three plug-ins in the suite, but the one that may prove very
useful to you is Glintwerks. It’s built to generate a variety of glints
that can be applied to your layers. You can apply them to 2D images
or the results of 3D renders (like Invigorator). You can animate them in
    a variety of ways.

Take a look at https://www.zaxwerks.com/2004/thewerks.html for
more information. Download a demo and see if it will work for you.

Alpha channels included for free. 🙂

    Good luck.

    Hey, Matt

No need to apologize for suggesting Glintwerks.

It’s absolutely the best at what it does, just as Invigorator is the best at what it does. And just as 3D Flag has no equal for what it does. Gee, I notice a pattern there.

I have Glintwerks . What Willy is seems to be refering to is the Boris Effect Glint, which is generically a 4 point light flare that varies intensity with the luminous level of what it is keyed over. Glintwerks generates something that is more akin to a traveling highight/sheen. The Boris effect is similar to many small Knoll Light Flares. Glintwerks is very cool, but the effect is not the same thing visually.
