3D Invigerator Pro object as a obscuration layer for particular ?

August 1, 2009 at 3:25 pmUnfortunately not since both layers are actually 2D. You could fake it though by creating a 3D layer that is positioned in the same spot as the 3D Invigorator object, turn off the visibility for it, then use it as an obscuration layer.

August 1, 2009 at 7:01 pmThanks for the info , I tried that before but it did not look so well because it was just a flat plane above the deformed ‘terrain’ when the camera got in really close. That’s too bad you cant do that 🙁

August 1, 2009 at 7:56 pmAfter Effects is not a full 3D application. It is designed for compositing. You would need a 3D application for what you are trying to do.
You can do a lot of 3D work in After Effects though as long as you are aware of it’s limitations. Here are some examples of our Pro Motion Menu Kits (blu-ray/dvd menu templates) which do quite a bit of 3D animation in After Effects:
