    I used the 3D extrude function in Illustrator and when I use this file in After effects the straight lines go go all wonky!

    anyone know how to solve this

    You can’t upload one directly to the forum, you have to upload it to an image service like Flickr or Imageshack and then link or embed it here at the COW.

    AE doesn’t allow 3D extrusion directly. Some plugins do. Invigorator and ProAnimator are the most popular. The Explosion plugin also does some extrusion so play around with that but not really designed for 3D text.

    We use ProAnimator and love it. Couldn’t be easy to create 3D text, just type it in. It also allows for Illustrator Import.

    if you want to use illustator with the 3d extruder make sure you it expand appearance in your settings before saving it out. This will break it apart into vector paths. This may help.

    I meant to reference Shatter not Explosion… sorry.
