    Hi There,

I was wondering if anyone could help with this (no doubt simple) problem.

I have a scene with a logo in element animating in nicely. However, I have a 3 light set up. I want it to be pitch black at the start with each light coming on in turn.

However, when I turn the intensity of my comp lights down to 0 there still seems to be a light source coming in from the left of the screen.

The only way to get rid of this is to turn down the reflection of my surface in element.

    This is less than ideal.

Does anyone know what this light source might be and how to turn it off?

    Any help would be brilliant.

    Thanks

    Paul

In Cinema4D, if no lights are on, by default there is a phantom light (to allow editing the scene), cast by the camera. In preferences, you can turn this off. If you are using a different 3d package, then there may be an equivalent phantom light.

    Solved it.

It is the Environment map that lights the preview menu. You have to choose an ‘override layer’ to turn it off.

    Hurrah.

Ohhhh got it… you have to create a solid black and choose that as your enviorment.

The enviorment layer lights the scene
