December 30, 2005 at 6:36 pmHey my friend,
Feel free to use the project as you wish.
There is for the momemt no tutorial about the case but if you open the ai file you will see how it was constructed. The case animates in three points Set1 for the front cover set3 will animate the CD and the camera will rotate etc… the entire object.Salut and happy new year buddy.

December 30, 2005 at 7:33 pmSerge, now really final question: I put my texture in new composition as Background Texture. However, when I do your 1st step in your movie (Layer map 8), I don’t find nr. 10 Back Cover. Only 10 BG. How can I add my Back Cover composition?
The rest works! 😉

December 30, 2005 at 8:53 pmHi,
Your texture comp has to be in the same comp then the Invigorator layer.
Salut.

December 30, 2005 at 9:07 pmThanks Serge. I never cease to be impressed with your talent. The realism and complexity of the CD and DVD
excede what I thought 3DI was capable of! -

January 2, 2006 at 6:53 pmI know that I come back to you all the time, but one more question, and then the DVD is finished! 😉
Now I was able to include the backcover in the DVD model. However, I see the backcover on the inside of the backcover, and only vague/dark on the true backcover. Now, I can probably adjust this with the lighting, but did you make a separate layer for the inside of the backcover (on which the CD is attached) so I can make this black and non-transparent of the outside of the backcover. Still a clear story?
Thanks!

January 2, 2006 at 7:25 pmHi Erik,
There are many ways of doing this. When you are showing the inside of your box you don’t need the backcover texture to show in your texture comp. Open my project, open “Cover_Texture” comp in a new window and see how the texture layers were placed in time to show a different map.
Another way would be to simply duplicate your backside, switch off the Outside Edges in the Set-Up window, then click on the Object Styles tab and choose Unlink Object Style from the Swatch menu. You need to do this last step to be able to give your duplicate its own texture map. Now you can create a new texture material and assign it to your backcover. You may need to push the object in the Z-axis a bit if it is covering the inside of your box.
BTW. Before you duplicate your object, make sure that in your user prefs (Located in the Set-Up window) all parameters for Duplication Offset are set to (0).Salut and show us a small clip of what you did. Promise?

As always good advise. Will go and try to do this tomorrow, when I have some time available in the evening. Will definately create a movie when finished and post.
