Posted by Jeremy Reed on September 5, 2011 at 6:14 amI am new to after effects and I was wondering the easiest way to go about this. I want have an animation where the camera moves around text. I do not know anything about camera movements in After Effects.
Thank you

September 5, 2011 at 7:23 pmOne way you could go about this is to create text in the center of the composition. Then make sure the switch for 3d layer is turned in the time line for the text. Then you can create a new camera layer > new > camera. Then in the settings make sure the type is a two-node camera. That way it will pivot around a point which defaults to the center of the comp.
Now by controlling the position properties via the numbers or the camera tools (C shortcut) you can make the camera move anyway you want around a point.
I would suggests checking out some tuts if you really want to get to know how to use camera in AE.
I just found this series here on the cow Animating a Camera 1: Camera Difficulties.
Video Copilot has some good ones as well. There also are some rigs and plugins that make using cameras easier as well.hope this helps
