  • 3d BD Authoring – Frame Sequential – SRW 5800

    Hello,

We’re a small dvd BD authoring company.
We’re looking forward doing our first 3D BD but we have a few questions! I hope you’ll help us!

1.We received for test purpose an HDCAMSR – Frame Sequential 3D (one frame for left eye, then the same frame for right eye…). What do we need to digitalise this tape? We’re working with FCP and blackmagic. Of course we do have a SONY SRW5800.

    2. With our SRW5800 is it possible to digitalise it in FCP? Do we need the 4.4.4 card? I can play it (and I see one frame for each eyes one after the other, the movie seems in slow motion), but I can’t find a way to catch only left frames and then right frames…

    3. What are the possibilities except FRAME SEQUENTIAL master?

    Thank you very much!

    1. you should be able to just capture it like a regular video.

    2. capture it as a prores file

the other option besides frame seq. is side by side. either left and right or up and down.

The big question is, do you have 3D capable BD encoder software like DO Studio?

    Thanks for you answer!

Yes I can capture my video, but it’s only one stream with both eyes! At what point can we seperate left eyes and right eyes?

For the authoring we’re using Scenarist BD 5.5 and Cinevision 3.5 as an encoder!

well, if you have 3d plugins for final cut pro and a 3d monitor, you would test it that way.

Yes we do have a 3D monitor, not the 3D plugin…

What’s the best one for our case?

    thanks!

Thanks Steve (and sorry for the double answer).

So with Stereo3D Toolbox I’ll be able to capture frame sequential 3D HDCamSr, and then export it for Cinevision?

It’s pretty easy to find anything on the internet, but it’s really hard to find anything really clear about 3D! So thank you very much for your help!

I’m going to try Stereo3D Toolbox!

check out the wikipapers over at dostudio’s website.

Lots of info on 3D BD there.
