    Hello,
I have an animation dilemma: the script calls for a chase between a helicopter and a moving train with multiple camera angles (I’ve uploaded the script if anyone cares to read it 6790_winzipcompressedattachments.zip). Sounds to me like a job for a proper 3D program but unfortunately I only work in AE.
I really want the job but I’m not sure how realistic I can make the animation even with the new 3D Ray Trace options. Here is a link to a similar script done with a combo of Maya and AE:

    So basically my questions are:
    1. Do you think it’s possible to create 3D animation in AE.
    2. If you do, I would greatly appreciate if someone could point me in the direction of a good tutorial on the subject.

    Many thanks!

Video Copilot’s Element 3D might work for the helicopter but I’m not sure about the train.

However, I would suggest to be careful not to bite off more than you can chew, however tempting it may be. If you deliver a poor product it can haunt you and your career for a long, long time.

If you’re comfortable with AE then maybe find someone to work with who is experienced with 3D and VFX work.
