    Dear Gary,

Thanks for that clear suggestion. I will try to up it from 64 (current) to 128 (yikes i think the max block size!)

see if it plays a few more frames.

    all the best,
    H

wasn’t clear enough since I was talking about the AJA tool and setting the file size to be 1 or 2 gigs so that you have a better understanding of how fast the drives will run with your media at the size that it is. you have to look at the graph with the aja system test- it will give you a line indicating the optimum data rate.

This would be vastly simpler if you were accustomed to working in a frame based workflow- which is VERY common for frames this large.

Ah! I thought you meant stripe size… yes have been running the test with a 4gb file…. the disk is wicked fast 720 MB/sec in raid 6!!! but it is the frame size/codec thing, i think…

I am anxious to try your frame sequence test towards previewing full res/25fps…

I export a series of stills frm FCP timeline at 3840×2160
    export to what format, please?
    I bring this sequence into AE 3840X2160 (8bit only)…and render as…?
    or RAM preview?
Just clue me to basic moves and settings and formats please and I try with AE5.5 tommrrow…

    Very greatful,
    Hilary
