33B Magically becomes 1.1gig in DVD pro
help.
I just switched from Adobe to FCP getting the suite and a mac a week ago. This is my third DVD project in this first week. The other two are perfect.
But this one, #3… is giving me fits
My 99 minute movie and it’s soundtrack take up 4.1 gig.I have added a 4 minute trailer so the total is 4.2 gig.
Then I import an MP3 of the director’s comments that is 33MB MP3 and my total for the project jumps to 5.3 gig!
My math says it should be 4.53gig. Therefore under the 4.7 limit.
I am hosed by this new math. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

MP3 is not compatible with DVD. It is being made into an AC3 first which takes up more space than MP3. Also 4.2 is the outside limit and the counter is often a little off. I’d make your video a bit smaller and convert to AC3 in Compressor first.

When you say make the movie smaller… surely you don’t mean do a re-edit? Do you mean to compress that too then compress the audio file before importing it?
I do have compressor, but have never used it, only having had the Mac computer for a week now…

No I mean recompress your video at a lower MPEG-2 bitrate. I’d suggest a bit of time learning DVD Studio Pro.

I think you probably gave me what I needed to know in the previous post.
Deadlines, you know. I have someone who can hand my movie to someone who can make a decision, if I can just get it to him quickly.
Thus my haste.
