I have a client who gave me a DVCAM tape recorded at 32K Audio. When I try to digitize it I get a warning saying the tape’s audio format does not match my capture. I don’t find a 32K capture setting.

I’m going firewire out into my mac G5. I’m using a Son DSR 20 Deck. The audio is also very low on on the deck. Any thoughts?

You have to duplicate the NTSC DV setting and rename it, then go into it and change the setting.

Then set the sample rate of your project to 32K. Piece of cake.

    Have a wonderful day.

Thanks Chris. That worked. Is there anyway to boost the audio more than FCP allows on the timeline?

Add the Audio Filters > Apple > AUPeakLimiter and adjust the “Pre-gain” to any level you want.

I usually boost the audio with the gain filter. You also can do it in Peak and Soundtrack Pro.

    Have a wonderful day.

what do you do if you have 32k & 48k mixed in the same timeline then?

does 32k work for both or does one of them go out of synch?

Ya know, that’s a good question, but somewhere I recall hearing that the current version of FCP is not as persnickity as it used to be regarding sample rates.

    Have a wonderful day.
