My company and I have recently bought P2 and haven’t yet purchased any memory cards because

    a) The work we are doing is for internet streaming so MiniDv is still fine, and
    b) More importantly the new 32GB cards are out later on this year so I thought it wise to hold on.

My question is this, How much will they be (

Wow 32 are coming out. I could not imagine using a 32 gig card. I still shoot with 4 gigs because 1 card fits on 1 dvd-r disc nicely. Since I got the camera 18 months ago I really have monitored what I shoot and try not to get to much useless stuff.30 second commercials I only use 8 minutes to get the footage I need at DV50 quality.

This stuff fills your hard drives. Now instead of having tapes in my closet it’s piling up with hard drives.

Wow, 32 gig cards. Are there prices yet?

32GB cards are excepted to sell for $1650 US, 16GB for selling for $900 (if you can find any) so I wouldn’t think the 16GB cards will drop unless the 32’s end up being a lot cheaper, and it would be great it they are. It would be nice to get (2) 32 GB cards for $2000. Be a nice Christmas present from Panasonic!

The trend is for the old ones to drop drastically. If I recall correctly the 8gb’s didn’t drop right away but eventually they dropped. I expect Panasonic to announce 64gb cards after the release of the 32’s. Why? check this coment from last Sept.:

I know Panny always said the expected to produce 128gb cards but I wonder if it will get even bigger. With aquisition formats like AVC-I we won’t need a closet full of HDD’s.
