I have several small mpeg2 files that are all about 400MB each so it should have been easy to take 8 of these files & use DVDA3 to burn them onto a single layer disk. I dragged then all in clicked optimize & it says that I’m 134% of disk capacity.

I found this very confusing so I deleted everything then selected just one 400MB file & once again checked optimize only to see that the file was listed as being 650MB. What could be going on? Why such a large discrepancy?

    Thanks in advance

Assuming it’s DVD Architect you’re talking about, just ignore the warning message.
It has a long history of incorrectly reporting file sizes.

But if I proceed will it allow me to make DVD as is? I’m trying to get the disk made without having to re render & it may not allow me to proceed without using fit to disk command.

    Thanks in advance

If the mpegs initially came from Vegas, then you’ll be able to do it as is.
If not, then I honestly have no idea and can only suggest trying it to see what happens.
Either way, you shouldn’t have to do a “fit to disk” as your total file size is under a DVD’s maximum.

I can see that this feature is crazy. I have just added yet another file to the project & even though the file is from the exact same source it says that it doesn’t have to compress this last file. Adding this file naturally increases the percentage over disc capacity that it thinks its dealing with. If I then select this last item & which it says doesn’t need to be compressed & change it to compress the percentage that this exceeds disc capacity increases rather than decreases as if it wanted to increase the bit rate.

    Thanks in advance
