I’m in the process of shopping to buy or build a new faster computer that will be used mostly for video editing. I use Vegas 7 primarily but sometimes use Adode applications as well. My question concerns installing The Windows OS as either 32 bit or 64 bit. I understand that the 32 bit version is much more compatable because of hardware drivers. But I’ve also read that 64 bit is better for video editing. But then I read somewhere that Adobe Photoshop doesn’t work with 64 bit. Can someone enlighten me about these choices and recommned my best choice and tell me why.

Go 32bit for now. There is no real advantage to running a 32bit app on a 64 bit system.

Well, one advantage is that Win64 give 32bit applications access to the entire 4GB memory space, whereas Win32 only gives 2GB (unless you use the 3GB switch). I have a Dell 690 running 8GB and while I see no real speed increase, it seems to work fine.

That is true, but this will probably not have any significant impact on Vegas performance since it will generally be CPU intensive more than memory intensive.
