30p in a 24p timeline
Hi:
I’ve got a corporate video shot on the HPX170 in 720 24pn. The client has given me a few clips of b-roll they had which is in 720 30p and not sure what kind of camera shot the broll.
Is there a way to mix the 30p with the 24p so it plays smoothly? My time line is set for 24p.

Put the DVCPRO HD 720 29.97 clip into Compressor and compress to DVCPRO HD 720p 23.98…yes.

That’s the problem when you go from 30P to 24P. You’re only keeping 20% of the frames and you don’t have a lot of the in between information to draw the new frames from.
If you do this in Compressor, open up the Frames tab and make sure that everything there is set to “best”.
Your other alternative is to use Compressor or Cinema Tools to slow the 29.97fps down to 23.98fps, making a frame to frame conversion. You’re slowing it down by 20%.
In CT you “conform” the file from 29.97 to 23.98. It’s instant.
In Compressor, in the Frames tab, there’s an option at the bottom to “make 29.97 play at 23.98” or something like that.
