Waiting for the HDCAM deck to show up so can’t test this yet….maybe you can offer tips?

Music video. Master is 23.98 HDCAM – with some super 8 on digitbeta. Editor dailies were downconverted DVCAM with HD TC burn in.

    1) I get project file this AM
    2) remove all digibeta clips and Media Manager the rest
    3) Export a 30fps EDL
    4) Convert 30fps to 24fps EDL with Cinema Tools

Ok, so that allows me to capture the HDCAM within +/- a frame. But since this project is intended to finish SD I had just planned to capture from the SDI downconversion output on the HD deck. Will HDCAM decks/FCP allow me to have a 24fps sequence and batch to 30fps media? Or should I just stay with the 30fps rough cut EDL?

I initially wanted them to do an HD finish, but for a variety of reasons that got shot down.

HDCAM decks don’t output 23.98 SD video. If they are capable of exporting SD video from 23.98 HD (some can’t do it and other require an optional 2:3 pulldown card) it will be at 29.97.

So if you’re finishing in SD, you’re best bet is to just leave it at 29.97.

So I decided to save any experimentation… I just conformed the whole thing in 1080 and will downcovert the files to 24fps SD for finishing.

    Thanks!
