30 hours to Render a 58 minute Video
Huge mistake. I decided to start my last project on the latest upgrade from Sony. Vegas Pro 11. Editing three camera event.Timeline seemed to function normally and preview was as quick as Pro 10, not faster. Footage was shot at 1080 24P. Project properties was set up based on a clip from the project. I went to render a DVDA WS NTSC stream with audio at 29.97. Started render, after 12 hrs. 10% was completed. Stopped the render to look for a problem. Tried to launch the project with Vegas 10, no luck. Decided to render another MPEG DVDA 1080 P at 24P to see better performance, no luck. Right now the project is 92% done, elapsed time 26 hrs, with 2 hrs to go. WTF!
Here’s a bit of trivia for you, elapsed time resets to zero after 24 hrs.
My computer: i7 2600K CPU, 16 GB ram, Nvidia Gforce 465 card. Rendering to a separate HD 1 TB. EFX in project New Blue and Sapphire edge. I have been a vegas user since Sonic Foundry. So I have a bit of experience with this stuff.
My question. Is there a good resource for setting up Vegas 11 regarding project properties, rendering scenarios, computer issues etc. I am very disappointed in this software. I should have known better to start a project on the new release. I wanted to take advantage of the sale knowing i would upgrade based on previous upgrades. Be warned my fellow editors so you don’t disappoint your clients as I have done today.
